Played for 2 years Judd's Brothers Legion baseball and still hold several of the pitchers records. 1982-1986 pitched for University of Nebraska. In 1984 pitched in the Alaska summer league for the North Pole Nick's for head coach Mike Gillespie. Also during these early years was coaching teams in the Babe Ruth leagues. Also, starting in 1982 was my start in the Nebraska Semi Pro independent league. I pitched in this league and several others for over 27+ years. In those years I won pitcher of the year 4 times and player of the year 4 times. In 1986 I started my college coaching career at Nebraska Wesleyan as the pitching coach under Rich Russo. In 6 years we won a NAIA title and had several pitchers and players of the week. Left NWU in 2001 with Russo to go to Lincoln East HS. Left East in 2005 to come back to NWU with Bill Fagler after his retirement from LNE. We did 9 years at NWU. So in my 15 years I coached over 500+ men, won several conference titles, called several no hitters, had numerous conference players of the year, pitchers of the year and an All American in Alex Heideman from Lincoln Pius. Several of those NWU players have gone on to coach teams and players themselves in Lincoln and several other high schools and have been greatly successful. I have now been the pitching coach at LNE for the last 5 years. Hall of Fame Induction: LNE HoF in 2002 Nebraska Independent baseball HoF in Beatrice in 2012. V Reserves Head Coach: Austin Urbauer I am a Health and PE teacher here at Northeast. I coach wrestling and the reserve baseball team. I have been involved in the game of baseball since I could walk. I grew up playing for one of the top teams in the Nation from age 7-13 here in Lincoln. Later I graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School where I played 3 sports football, wrestling, and baseball. I believe that in baseball you need to compete every single pitch, and when each player competes every single pitch you will set yourself up for success. High School sports can be exhausting, my goal as a coach is to make my athletes fall in love with the game again. Baseball is such an amazing game you can learn life lessons from. As a coach here at Northeast our baseball players will compete everyday at practice and build relationships with their fellow teammates, coaches, staff and future college coaches. I look forward to a very successful season as a Rocket.
